When we last heard from Chip Caray, he was working the MLB postseason for TBS, detailing throws to the plate that never existed and screaming “Fisted!” seemingly every time a baseball was hit; summed up: he was not good at announcing baseball games. Which is why it makes perfect sense that on Monday the Atlanta Braves hired Caray to announce baseball games on Fox Sports South and SportSouth.

↵↵“I am incredibly honored for the opportunity to call Atlanta Braves baseball on a regular basis for FOX Sports South and SportSouth,” Caray said in a prepared statement. “I couldn’t imagine a better situation. I look forward to being paired up with my great friend, Joe Simpson...”
↵Caray will work about 105 games on Fox Sports South and SportSouth with veteran Braves analyst Simpson -- more than twice as many Braves games as Caray worked last year for the Turner-owned Peachtree station.
↵↵Caray was and Turner Sports decided to “move ahead on different paths” three weeks ago, even though Caray still had three years left on his contract.
