Remember that Green Bay Gamblers game from last week? Sure you do: It’s the one that was interrupted by a bat, which drew swift reprisal from PETA, as predicted by Chris Littmann. I’m not sure exactly how PETA will complain about the team turning the moment into an ongoing promotion for charity, but I’m sure they will.

Maybe they’ll attack the team for encouraging fans to throw toy bats because it’s “normative of animal cruelty.” Maybe they’ll criticize the echo effect in the filming of the above press conference for making a mockery of the affair. Maybe they’ll accuse the team of not raising enough money for animal welfare, because they only charge $2 for every bat sold, donating all proceeds directly to a local wildlife sanctuary.
Wait: PETA approved of this? Maybe they really aren’t Grinches.
In any case, good job by the Gamblers’ promotions team for making an interesting incident an opportunity for beneficence.
