Gasol Signs Three-Year Extension With Lakers

Pau Gasol has been vocal about wanting to stay with the Lakers and on Wednesday, he got his wish, signing a three-year contract extension. Consider it an early Christmas present.

“It gives me tremendous peace of mind and safety and confidence,” Gasol said Wednesday at the Lakers’ training complex. “We have a tremendous team, and we all want the same thing. We want to be the best team out there. It’s a great thing as a player to be a part of something this special.”

Gasol’s deal means he’ll be in Los Angeles through the 2013-14 season. It could be worth more than $60 million.
