Mike Milbury Continues His Campaign To Keep Hockey Manly

As the debate over dangerous hits in the NHL, specifically head shots, continues to grow more fierce each week battle lines are being drawn in the sand. On one side are the ones who claim the NHL must take further steps to protect the players and that it’s becoming increasingly apparent that the blame for long-term injuries can be placed on the violence in hockey.

↵

On the other side are the ones, like Mike Milbury, who say that hockey is a man’s sport, it’s violent, and there are known ramifications from engaging in such a sport. On the heels of an official report that stated that former NHL player Reggie Fleming suffered from serious brain damage resulting from playing hockey, Milbury claims that the report proves his point: hockey is dangerous, so live with it.

↵“We all know it’s a tough game. We want it to stay tough. We want some danger in the game, and it comes with a price. You saw the stuff about Reg Fleming? Hey, unfortunately he had some problems…You wanna be a hockey player? There’s danger involved. There’s gonna be long-term problems. I got a knee replacement at 50 years of age. It just happens.â€

↵So according to Milbury: knee injury = brain injury.
