Each year, the World Juniors provide a great proving ground for up and coming hockey stars and is usually a great indicator for who the top picks in the draft might be that year. This year’s tournament takes place is Saskatoon and runs from December 26 to January 5.

↵Once again, Team Canada is the favorite to win the tournament and is looking for their sixth straight gold medal. On a team filled with physical and talented young hockey players, Taylor Hall will the name to keep an eye on. With 59 points in just 34 games this season, Hall is shaping up to be the number one overall pick in the 2010 draft.

As always, Team USA will be underdogs in the tournament but are putting an experienced team on the ice. For the Americans, it will be Jordan Schroeder leading the way. The small and speedy forward, drafted 22nd overall in 2009 by Vancouver, is tearing it up in his freshman year at the University of Minnesota and many are looking for the Americans to surprise some in this year’s tournament.
