Risks Abound In Fantasy’s Last MNF Game

For most fantasy leagues, this week marks the final matchup of the year. Some teams are fighting for trophies and prize money in the Fantasy Bowl, some teams are fighting to stay out of last place in the “Toilet Bowl”.

Many of those fantasy matchups will come down to the last NFL game of the week, the Monday Night Football game between the Vikings and the Bears. Unfortunately, this game is full of players that could kill your fantasy hopes. If your fantasy team relies on one of these players, you have some difficult decisions to make.

Brett Favre - Favre hasn’t looked good this December (again) averaging only 208 passing yards per game over the past two games. He only has one touchdown in that stretch to go with two interceptions. With the Vikings expected to crush the Bears, will Brad Childress want to bench Favre early? Will he be able to bench him? Will Favre get moody? Will there be a slapfight? Who knows? There are all sorts of ways this could turn out badly. Favre may have catapulted you into the fantasy playoffs, but he’s far from a sure thing now.

Matt Forte - If you spent a first round pick on Matt Forte you’re probably not fighting for a title. Just in case you are though, know that over the past six games he has one rushing touchdown and an average of 52 rushing yards per game. Expecting a huge breakout in Week 16 in the frigid cold against the Vikings’ defense doesn’t seem all that smart.

Percy Harvin - Is he starting? Who knows! If he starts, will he play the entire game? Who knows! That’s what you want to hear when it’s championship time, right?

Jay Cutler - Please don’t tell me you’re starting Jay Cutler.

Adrian Peterson - He has three rushing touchdowns in the past three games, but is only averaging 50 rushing yards per game in that time. That includes a game with 35 rushing yards and a game with 19 rushing yards. Ugh.
