Over at FanHouse, JJ Cooper points out that running back Willie Parker could very well be nearing the end of his Steelers career. In fact, his NFL career is in jeopardy to begin with.
Requiem For Willie Parker’s Career
↵↵Parker’s contract is up at the end of the season and right now it’s an open question if he’ll even be in the league next year (there aren’t many jobs for 30-year-old backup tailbacks who don’t play special teams).
↵↵I hope that Parker can find work somewhere next season, but even if his career is over, it’s been a fun ride. His 5,270 rushing yards place him in the all-time top 100, he has two Super Bowl rings, and for a time at least, he neared “household name” status.
↵Perhaps most impressively, he’s one of the few players to have a YouTube highlight video with a “Lux Aeterna” soundtrack. This puts him in exclusive company alongside Barry Sanders, to name one. Football is so much better with Lord of the Rings music playing, isn’t it?
