At his Music City Bowl post-game press conference, Rich Brooks told reporters that’s leaning towards leaving the Cats now that the season is over.
Rich Brooks: “80% Chance I Won’t Be Back Next Year”
Kentucky coach Rich Brooks says he told his Wildcats that he’s probably not returning next season after a 21-13 loss to Clemson on Sunday night in the Music City Bowl.
Brooks announced at the postgame news conference that he is “80 percent” sure that he’s not coming back. He plans to think about his next move, talk with his family and make a final decision within the week.
Given what’s been happening with SEC coaches in recent days, this is par for the course. EDSBS’ Spencer Hall sums it up in his tweet:
After Meyer, this qualifies as certainty.
Brooks is 68-years old with a 39-47 record in 7 seasons at Kentucky. He didn’t provide a deadline or timing of his official announcement but when he does, expect offensive coordinator Joker Phillips to be nearby. He’s already been named the successor.
