Steve Cantwell Off UFC 108 Card
And the curse continues...
Vladimir Matyushenko on Tuesday confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that his originally scheduled opponent for this weekend’s UFC 108 in Las Vegas, Steve Cantwell, is out of their fight due to undisclosed reasons.
I can’t remember any three shows that lost as many fighters combined as UFC 108 has lost on its own.
The promotion is said to be scrambling to find a replacement for Matyushenko to fight but on such short notice that is a tall order. Vladimir is a very tough fighter and the scrap with Cantwell was very interesting in terms of showing where each man is in his career at this time. Cantwell needed to win to remain in the UFC and Vladimir was trying to work his way toward a legitimate claim to being a top 10 fighter.
More updates to come once a replacement is named or Matyushenko is pulled from the card.
