Hofstra Cuts Football Program; Where Have We Heard This Before?

Another CAA school is falling victim to the times, just two weeks after Northeastern’s football program went under:

↵↵Hofstra University is expected to announce the termination of its football program Thursday, according to a source. The dramatic announcement, believed to be based largely on financial reasons, is to be made at an 11 a.m. press conference.

↵↵

We can scoff at a less-than-successful program going under, but two FCS schools losing football teams in the span of two weeks — from the same conference — is certainly concerning. Especially considering the CAA is the strongest FCS conference in the country. They’re the SEC of the FCS.

↵

Not to mention that Hofstra has produced some NFL success, such as Wayne Chrebet, Marques Colston and Raheem Morris. OK, maybe not Raheem Morris … yet, at least.
