A person close to situation tells the Houston Chronicle that Baylor coach Art Briles is the leading candidate to replace Mike Leach at Tech.
Briles coached under Leach for four years at Texas Tech, starting in 1999, before taking the head coaching position at Houston, which eventually led him back to the Big 12, heading up a suddenly-rejuvenated Baylor program.
