Weekend Wake Up: Kobe Visits Bank, Nets Grab W, M’s Ink Figgins

⇥⇥⇥⇥⇥⇥

Kobe Douses Heat. Miami clawed back from a nine-point deficit late, led by four with under ten seconds to go, and then conceded back-to-back threes to Derek Fisher and Kobe Bryant to lose the NBA’s game of the night. Oh, and the above is Kobe’s three. At the buzzer. Over a defender. Off glass.

Not the Nyets. For one night, at least, New Jersey shook their slide. Brook Lopez went for 31 and 14, Courtney Lee added a career-high 27, and the Nets got their first win of the season on part owner Jay-Z’s birthday.

Chone Gone to Safeco. Friday brought a deal between the Seattle Mariners and do-everything utility man Chone Figgins; next year, if Dave Cameron of U.S.S. Mariner is right, should bring rewards for the M’s and Safeco fans.
