Less than a year ago, Matt Cassel took the field for the Patriots, threw for 345 yards, and tossed three touchdowns. On Sunday, after completing only 10 of 29 passes and throwing two picks, Cassel was benched by the Kansas City Chiefs in favor of some dude who looks kind of like Dave Grohl.

↵We don’t know yet whether the Chiefs will switch to Brodie Croyle next week, or if they’ll revert to the quarterback-by-committee system they’ve resorted to for the better part of the last three years. What can be said, though, is that sans injury or legal issues, it might be the most precipitous fall a quarterback has suffered in a long time.
