↵↵But in making Carroll’s off-field extracurricular activities a point of contention in an interview with a Notre Dame website affiliated with Rivals, Weis has made sure both coaches are tossed into a game that neither can win, seemingly for the sake of seeing Carroll lose.↵

↵↵↵The “Pete Carroll is living with a grad student!” tidbit actually hadn’t been in general circulation before, and Carroll is denying it vehemently. “It’s untrue, it’s irresponsible, and it’s incredible he’d be talking about me like that,” Carroll said.↵

↵↵It’s hard not to share Carroll’s last two sentiments -- this sort of allegation has what to do with Weis, Notre Dame, and his coaching career, exactly? -- but it’s impossible not to wonder about the first one. Details about Carroll’s personal life probably shouldn’t be public knowledge if they don’t impact his professional life, but Weis leveling this charge makes it news in and of itself and in the greater scheme of college football.↵
