Urban Meyer Hospitalized for Dehydration

Update: SI’s Andy Staples quotes Florida spokesman Steve McClain as saying Meyer is “feeling fine.”

First reported by Gator Country, and then confirmed in short order by ESPN: Florida coach Urban Meyer checked himself into Shands General Hospital in Gainesville early Sunday morning, and was treated for dehydration. (Depending on how much you trust some reports, he may have also been treated for chest pains and/or released already this morning.)

ESPN’s story notes that this superb Sports Illustrated profile of Meyer reports that he has been suffering with an arachnoid cyst since his time as an assistant coach at Notre Dame. It is unclear whether that condition has anything to do with his hospitalization.

Obviously, best wishes go out to Meyer. This post will have updates as they come.
