Brett Favre’s been absolutely marvelous this season. Really. Even his most ardent critics have been forced to concede that yes, he’s an MVP candidate, and still one of the game’s … (swallows vomit) … premier gunslingers.
Uh Oh Favre Fans, It’s December...
↵But as one writer points out, his recent history in December suggests he may run into some trouble before too long:
↵↵Favre stat: Since 2005 … he has 15 TDs and 33 INTs in reg. season games from Dec. 1 and on.
↵↵And last night, much to Minnesotans’ discomfort, he threw two interceptions in a loss. As Yahoo’s Shutdown Corner wonders:
↵↵Was it an aberration, or is the gunslinging going bad, like it always does?
↵↵Too early to tell, but if you’re a gambling man, you might want to hold off placing any bets on the Vikings, especially since Adrian Peterson was held to just 19 yards on 16 attempts last night.
↵And for Favre, it’s not the first time he’s ran into trouble against a Kurt Warner-led opponent. If you think about it, Warner’s like a slightly-less talented doppleganger to Favre. An aging gunslinger in his own right, content to play as long as he’s physically able. But man, last night pales in comparison to that Favre disaster in the 2002 playoffs, where Favre threw six INTs to Kurt Warner’s St. Louis Rams.
↵So take solace, Vikings fans. Or maybe, brace for more Favre-induced misery. Brett’s bad games get much, much worse.
