Andy Pettitte is getting a 100% raise from his employer for his 4.16 ERA-season last year. According to NY Daily News, the 37-year-old pitcher has agreed to a one-year, $11.75 million deal with the Yankees, which is twice what he made in '09.
Andy Pettitte Decides He Could Use Another $12 Million, Signs One-Year Deal With Yankees
More from Daily News:
The deal came together quickly once Pettitte informed the Yankees that he wanted to pitch in 2010. Brian Cashman spoke with agent Randy Hendricks more than once on Tuesday, then completed the deal on Wednesday morning. [...]
Pettitte, who won the clincher in all three rounds of the postseason, will slot in behind CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnett, though the Yankees are still in the mix in the Roy Halladay trade sweepstakes. The Yankees have Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes tabbed to start in 2010, though either could be traded or moved back to the bullpen.
Is that legal? A rotation of Halladay, Sabathia, Burnett and Pettitte? I think my local congressman needs to be made aware of this. While I’m contacting him, feel free to visit SBN’s Yankees blog, Pinstripe Alley, where they’ll be celebrating their annual bounty of top-notch roster additions.
