9:07 -- I am intrigued by this Jack-in-the-Box commercial, in which Jack is hit by a bus and looks dead. A URL -- something like “IsJackDeadForeverQuestionMarkDotCom.com” -- appears on the screen. I do not think I will visit the site. That’s what they want you to do. (Also, I’m working.)
↵
↵9:09 -- As the Cardinals continue to have trouble moving the ball -- it’s 4th and 13 -- we add another note to our Super Bowl XLIII knowledge base: Bruce Springsteen is a cut above the rest.
↵
↵

↵
↵9:16 -- Steve Breaston did not call fair catch on well-kicked punt by Berger. I would say he learned his lesson.
↵
↵9:18 -- We’re on the verge of the game losing all remaining intrigue, unless Warner gets his Birds down the field here. Larry Fitzgerald has one whole catch. Things don’t look good. (How’s that for an attempt to kept proven wrong?)
↵
↵9:21 -- There we go! Fitzgerald gets a few short catches; J.J. Arrington breaks one over the middle. First and goal for Arizona, still nine minutes left.
↵
↵9:25 -- It’s Arizona’s turn for a 3rd and goal. And ... Warner hits Fitzgerald on a ridiculous fade! Superb catch. 20-14 with 7-1/2 to go.
↵
↵The obligatory press box shot shows Larry Fitzgerald Sr. restraining himself from cheers. Hurrah for the dated relic of media abstinence! But on a serious level, Sr. writes a weekly column. You think maybe he could taken a few weeks off so that he could celebrate his son reaching the pinnacle of his profession? If Sr. covered politics and his son was elected senator, wouldn’t you find a way to change your job requirements so that you could show fatherly pride in public? And isn’t it all pretty absurd that we’re supposed to care that Sr. has no visible rooting interest? It’s really all very ridiculous.
↵
↵9:30 -- Ben sacked at the 18! 3rd and 16 coming.
↵
↵9:31 -- Heath Miller stopped short of the first as Arizona goes with a short prevent. Arizona’s got a chance ...
↵
↵9:37 -- Arizona’s driving, but Mike Gandy gets called for holding Harrison for the third time. On the next play, Warner almost delivers one into Polamalu’s hands. The next couple plays could break the Cards ...
↵
↵9:40 -- Nada for Warner, but the Aussie places the ball perfectly inside the three. Meanwhile, Harrison is boxing a Cardinal who is on his knees. Rather despicable work. The Cards get the call, but it only backs the Steelers up another few inches.
↵
↵9:42 -- OOOH ... near safety! Willie Parker barely gets the ball back over the goal line. Great work by Parker ... he had no business saving that play once hit. Of course, he could have prevented the whole thing by not running in his guard’s back.
↵
↵9:45 -- Dang!!! Santonio Holmes makes a phenomenal catch out at the 20 on 3rd and long from the one ... but the Steelers are called for holding in the end zone. Safety! 20-16, Cardinals will get the ball with three minutes to go and a TD needed.
↵
↵9:48 -- AND JUST LIKE THAT Fitzgerald grabs a slant pass and pulls a Usain Bolt after dusting the Pittsburgh safeties. 23-20 Arizona. Un-fricking-believable.
↵
↵(Fitzgerald Sr.? Still not cheering. I’m rooting for the Cards in only an anti-Steelers, pro-underdog fashion and I jumped out of my seat. This dude is raised the guy who just scored an insane touchdown in crunch time of a fricking Super Bowl! I’d consider it admirable restraint and self-control if I didn’t consider it completely absurd and ridiculous.)
↵
↵9:53 -- SPOILER ALERT: The online version of that GoDaddy commercial probably does not have nudity. Sorry, friends.
↵
↵9:54 -- For the Steelers to win, the popular “under” cannot survive.
↵
↵9:55 -- Holmes catches a first down, Washington follows with another. But both remain inbounds. Jeff Reed is looking for his shoes. Sixty-one seconds left, with the ball near the Arizona 45.
↵
↵9:58 -- Holmes finds space and gets to the 5! Pittsburgh burns its final timeout, but has 49 seconds to pound it in.
↵
↵9:59 -- Oof! Holmes watched a game-winning TD slip through his hands. Next play, opposite corner: he catches and taps both feet down. Beautiful, beautiful catch. Unbelievable passes on both plays for Big Ben. 27-23 Pittsburgh. The Cards have one last gasp with 29 seconds left and two timeouts.
↵
↵10:07 -- Arizona burns up its timeouts after plays in the middle of the field. Forty-four yards to go. Refs call a fumble as the ball is knocked from Warner’s arm. Looks like a possible incomplete pass on replay, but there’s no retraction from the booth. And an incredibly compelling Super Bowl ends in an anticlimactic fashion while a Ben kneel.
↵
↵Pittsburgh wins 27-23! May Santonio Holmes never have a rabbit for a few bucks ever again!↵
