Despite the OUTRAGE(!) surrounding Alex Rodriguez, ESPN is sticking by their man. According to Awful Announcing, the Worldwide Leader will go forward with their A-Rod World Baseball Classic ads next month. They look a little something like this:↵
Unlike Bud Selig, ESPN Not Ashamed of A-Rod
↵
↵
↵↵To which I respond: Good for ESPN. AA suggests that this is part of a larger conspiracy theory -- a “you scratch ours, we scratch yours” with A-Rod for doing that exclusive interview with Peter Gammons. I’d like to believe it has nothing to do with that. (Mostly because I despise conspiracy theories.) Perhaps it’s possible that ESPN realizes that Rodriguez’s confession has nothing whatsoever to do with the WBC. Or more specifically, with their promotion of the Classic. What he did six years ago with the Texas Rangers has no bearing on what he does next month for the Dominican Republic. Plus, that’s some pretty expensive looking lighting in the photograph. They weren’t about to let that go to waste.↵
↵↵What I do have a problem with here is A-Rod playing for the DR. Dude, you were born in New York City. Help out Team USA here, brah. Look at Shane Victorino. He’s playing for America and he’s from freaking Hawaii. ↵
