Suns Owner Discusses Team’s Drama

Phoenix, in addition to hosting the All-Star Game, also happens to be ground zero for trade rumors, chemistry issues, and underperforming. Owner Robert Sarver would probably prefer to stick to talking about the positive stuff -- after all, landing All-Star Weekend is a big deal. But as Bright Side of the Sun tells us, Sarver really had no choice but to address all the drama surrounding his team.↵↵⇥Sarver talked about his mistakes, specifically not extending Joe Johnson to a $50 million deal during the season. Sarver instead decided to wait the season out and, as we all know, Joe ended up leaving Phoenix for a max deal in Atlanta. ...↵⇥

↵⇥While he was appropriately coy on the direct matter, my interpretation is that he’s setting up the excuses for Porter’s dismissal. What’s not clear is how some of that blame doesn’t also fall on Kerr for creating the situation that he put Porter into ... I still fully expect that Terry Porter has coached his last game for the Phoenix Suns. I have talked to many people inside and outside the organization that are all saying the same thing, including very specific information about where things are in the process of letting Porter go.↵↵More goodies and a link to the audio at Bright Side. Sarver’s probably praying for some sort of unfortunate criminal incident, to deflect the weekend’s attention away from the uncertainty surrounding his coach and players. Oh, and on a lighter (or less cynical) note, I like the scenario of Amare to the Warriors for Biedrins, Turiaf, and Anthony Randolph ... at least for the Warriors.↵
