So Much for Dell Curry’s Spawn

↵College basketball regularly provides compelling drama of its own accord; in unlikely match-ups, on unlikely days, in unlikely towns the thrills happen. Except today. ESPN plotted out a “BracketBuster” Saturday with the Brothers Curry (Stephen from Davidson, Seth from Liberty) serving as a centerpiece. Stephen A. Smith, that most sophrosyne of modern sportswriters, had a balanced, completely reasonable piece on the Curry family which lead ESPN.com most of the morning.
↵
↵Davidson faced off against Butler in ESPN’s early game, while Liberty made it to ESPNU. Tip-off was the highlight. Stephen missed 17 of his 23 FGAs, and shot 2-of-13 from three. Davidson lost by 12. At Old Dominion, Liberty also got whooped (80-56). Seth did better than Stephen, hitting 4-of-12 from three. (Huzzah!) Not the best day for the family. (UPDATE: Pete Gaines at Deadspin notes that ESPN has disappeared the Curry focus post-debacle. I had to do a Google search to re-find the S.A.S. column that had been front and center this morning.)
↵
↵Speaking of busts, Tennessee got destroyed in Lexington. Kentucky dominated so thoroughly that Jodie Meeks was able to take off the second half to help Billy Gillispie with his taxes. Through Ashley Judd, all things are possible.↵
