S.C. None Too Happy With Phelps’ Pot Smoking

See that guy on the right there? That there is Leon Lott, sheriff of Richland County, South Carolina where cityboy Michael Phelps made the mistake of his life by smokin’ his whacky tobaccy within Lott’s jurisdiction. And Leon ain’t gonna let it slide on his watch:↵↵⇥Olympic star Michael Phelps may face criminal charges in the fallout from a photo showing the swimmer smoking from a marijuana pipe at a University of South Carolina house party. ↵⇥↵⇥A spokesman for Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott, known for his tough stance on drugs, said the department was investigating. ↵⇥
↵⇥↵⇥“Our narcotics division is reviewing the information that we have, and they’re investigating what charges, if any, will be filed,” the spokesman said.↵⇥
↵↵Just to be clear: We’re still talking about a 23-year-old who took a hit off a bong at a college party. That is what Lott’s department is spending its time investigating? I suppose there are no actual crimes being committed in Richland County. Although, to be fair, we all know that the root of any drug-related criminal activity is the rich guy who casually partakes while in social situations, not the high-level dealers. ↵↵One thing’s for certain: Ol’ Leon definitely isn’t making a big deal out of this to make a name for himself. No sir. His tough stance against pot is equally ridiculous for all who enter Richland.↵
