Peyton’s Pro Bowl Prank Goes Wrong

↵The Pro Bowlers were having a little pool party out in Hawaii yesterday, when Peyton Manning decided to have some fun with young Jay Cutler. With the help of 300-pound linemen Nick Mangold and Kris Dielman, Manning decided it would be just hilarious to throw Cutler in the pool. After all, this was funny in sixth grade, which is where most NFL players are stuck mentally, so it should still be good for some laughs.↵↵Manning, the seasoned prankster that he is, made sure to get Cutler’s cell phone away from him before tossing him into the water. Unfortunately, Peyton and his lineman buddies aren’t used to dunking guys with Diabetes:↵

↵↵⇥“We gave him a Pro Bowl baptism,” said Dielman, the star offensive guard of the rival San Diego Chargers. ↵⇥↵⇥Great fun. Big laughs. There was just one problem. Cutler is a Type 1 diabetic, and in his pocket was his blood-sugar monitor. ↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥“That was a prank where I thought we were smart enough to get the cellphone out of his pocket,” Dielman said. “But then, ‘Oops.’” ↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥The monitor was fried by the chlorinated water. ↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥“It was a bad audible on our part,” Manning said. “I think we were thinking right, trying to get the cellphone. Then we realize, the guy gets insulin shots. We missed that.” ↵⇥

↵↵It’s nice how Peyton talks about the little mishap like it was a football play gone wrong. “We destroyed the guy’s blood-sugar monitor, potentially putting him in grave danger” is basically the same as “thought we called the right audible for the defense, but missed that corner blitzing.” ↵
