Morgan St’s Ali Uses Judo Techniques on Griffin

The internet will have you believe Morgan State’s Ameer Ali simply flipped Blake Griffin over his back last night, resulting in an ejection for Ali. But no, it was a far more advanced move than that. As the illustration below demonstrates, that was some straight Judo skills Ali broke off. Specifically, it was the 一本 背負投 hand throw. Or you might know it better as Ippon Seoinage:↵

↵↵Sensei says, “excellent form, young Ameer.” Although he did jeopardize himself by going down with Griffin. Next time, he may want to better leverage the hips in order to keep his balance. But still, well done for a beginner. Far more impressive than Terrence Oglesby’s elbow throw. ↵
