Calhoun Reacts to Y!‘s Silly (Damning) Blog Post

The big story of the internets yesterday was Yahoo! Sports’ probe into alleged recruiting violations by UConn. It was a six-month investigative report by Adrian Wojnarowski and Dan Wetzel. It was exhaustive, and went so far as to gather, and scour through, phone records they received via the Freedom of Information Act. It was not off the cuff, and it certainly was not something you can dismiss as easily as, say, a blog post.↵

↵Nevertheless, that didn’t stop Jim Calhoun in his press conference yesterday from dismissing the report as being merely the latter. As transcribed by yours truly:↵↵⇥It was a newspaper story that ... it wasn’t a newspaper, I’m sorry. It was a blog story that appeared, I guess, in something I probably can’t get a hold of, which is Yahoo! And very simply my comments are what I said. ↵↵Ah yes, it appeared on the internet, so that means it must’ve been on a blog, right? That’s how the internet works, no? Actually, no. And what makes Calhoun think he can’t get a hold of it. Even if he’s not familiar with how the internet works, certainly he’s aware of what printers are. Although if he simply must see it in black ink on newsprint, he can probably just pick up any paper in the country. ↵
