LeBron James puts the ball in the basket. It’s a first principle, like gravity or carpet getting gross. We’ve seen it more than ever this season, as teams try in vain to keep him from going coast-to-coast; throughout his career, he’s routinely won games with lay-ups. This explains it all. Dude has magnetic powers that allow him to bring these two objects together like there was no other option. I mean, seriously: This is as improbable a make as you’ll find, and he does it barely paying attention.↵↵The shot itself is superfluous. What counts here, and what you can always count on, is that the ball will go in if LeBron’s hands have touched it. He didn’t fix his jumper over the summer, he learned to further channel these mutant abilities. If it embarrasses you that I’m talking about an athlete in Marvel Comics terms, to you I say, is it any weirder than calling him the effing Bible in action?↵
