Billy Gillispie got canned in part because Kentucky stunk it up through February and March, and in part because he didn’t fit the mythical mold of the Kentucky Coach. Not enough glad-handing, not enough baby-kissing, not enough collegial back-slapping with the media. Athletic director Mitch Barnhart actually invoked the name of Adolph Rupp during the press conference. (Shouldn’t this fit under Godwin’s Law in some fashion?)

↵The trope of the chasing reporter is a rather good Rorschach test, I think. If you believe the reporter to be somehow noble or gritty, you are part of the problem. (If, however, you appreciate the chase for its immense comedic value ... well, you’re just human.)
