Tiger Crawls Into Contention

↵Tiger Woods couldn’t break 70 for the third straight day in Augusta, but the 2-under third round did enough to keep Tiger within potential striking distance. He finished his round in eighth place, with leaders Kenny Perry and Chad Campbell seven strokes ahead. That Tiger still has a prayer after doubling up on his awful first hole is a minor victory.

↵No offense to Perry, Campbell or any other duffers hanging out ahead of Woods, but everyone wants to see Tiger go nuts on Sunday. For his part, Woods talked a nice game in his post-round check-in, insisting that he feels that he’s within range of the leaders.

↵Given his trouble so far, he’ll need some help from the others in order to make up all the ground. But as these fellows inside my television always tell me: there’s nothing more terrifying than the sound of a Tiger coming up behind you.↵
