Scott Wimmer NASCAR Nationwide Series Advance: Nashville Superspeedway

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

DEFENDING WINNER – Scott Wimmer brought home the Gibson Les Paul guitar trophy when he was the winner of the spring race at Nashville Superspeedway in 2008. Wimmer also broke the race record at the 1.333-mile concrete track with a speed of 134.095 MPH.

FRONT RUNNER – Statistics show that Nashville Superspeedway loves Scott Wimmer. In his nine starts at the track, Wimmer has finished in the top-10 and completed every lap for all but one race, when a crash resulted in a 36th place finish in 2003. Four of Scott's finishes have been in the top-5, including his win at the track last spring.

DASH 4 CASH – This weekend at Nashville Superspeedway is the first in a series of four races in the 2009 Dash 4 Cash program implemented by series sponsor, Nationwide Insurance. If Scott Wimmer visits victory lane this weekend, or in any of the other three Dash 4 Cash races, he will win a $25,000 bonus. The driver with the highest total number of points from the four Dash races will also win a $50,000 bonus from Nationwide at the NASCAR Nationwide Series banquet at the end of the season. Remaining Dash 4 Cash races are: Kentucky Speedway (June 13), Iowa Speedway (August 1) and Memphis Motorsports Park (October 24).

CHASSIS INFORMATION – Key Motorsports will be utilizing chassis #008 at this weekend's race at Nashville Superspeedway. This chassis is Key Motorsports' primary intermediate chassis, and was most recently driven to an 11th place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in February.

Quotes and Facts:

ON HIS 2008 WIN – "It felt really great to go down there and win the race, Nashville's been a pretty special place for me. My uncle raced down there in the early 80's and I've been going down to the All-American 400 and Fairgrounds Speedway since I can remember, so to go there and try to win a race was really meaningful. It was my first win for RCR so it was a big day for me."

ON NASVHILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY – "It's a track where you've got to have a car that will turn in the center of the corner. You see a lot of guys who are real fast on short runs, but ultimately it seems like everybody's car gets tight and you can't get through the center, so we'll go down and work on that. It's gonna be a new racetrack for all the practices, it's not gonna be the same track we race on, so we're really gonna have to focus on setups and figure out what the track is going to do, because it's going to keep taking rubber all weekend long. I think the bottom groove is going to be the fastest because not a lot of people are going to run on the top. Hopefully we can rely on some of the things I've learned here in the past to help us run strong."
