Fake Umpires Set New Standard for Fans Seated Behind Home Plate Around Baseball

Sitting near people at sporting events who are determined to get on TV by being in the background shots or something is usually about as obnoxious as it gets. But the two guys sitting behind home plate at last night’s Yankees-Jays game did it with style.↵

↵That is commitment. It’s one thing to show up to the park and in an impromptu manner, decide to start following the motions of the home plate umpire. It’s an entirely different beast to decide that both you and a friend will actually dress the part and even bring a facemask. Gentlemen, you’ve set a high bar that will be tough to clear for all those fans who like to stand up and wave while they’re on their cell phones. For those people, maybe we’ll get lucky and a ball will slip through that netting and hit them in the gut.↵↵(H/T to Hugging Harold Reynolds.)↵
