For Just $25 Million, Celebrities Can Get Their Part of Cubs’ Frustration

Tom Ricketts is still trying to finalize his purchase of the Cubs. Obviously, it can be difficult to toss together a few hundred million dollars when you’re dealing with a bunch of banks holding on for dear life. Now, as part of Ricketts’ efforts to raise money from private investors, he’s hitting up celebrities who also happen to like torture be Cubs fans. From the Chicago Tribune:↵↵⇥Ricketts, an investment banker who lives in Wilmette, has held separate discussions with a handful of celebrities to raise money from them and other wealthy Cubs fans willing to pony up as much as $25 million. In addition to (Bill) Murray, he’s met with Jim Belushi and John Cusack, said two sources familiar with Ricketts’ proposal.↵↵↵As In A League Of Her Own points out, there are countless celebs who would willingly part with some cash to say they owned a part of the Cubs. Eddie Vedder, for example is not only a big Cubs fan, but he’s also can’t be found guilty of ever being on According To Jim, which should move him way up the list.↵
