Kentucky DE Jeremy Jarmon Did A Bad, Bad Thing

â†µKentucky football doesn’t have a lot going for it these days, or really any day since Bear Bryant skipped town about six decades ago. One of their bright spots, however, was defensive end Jeremy Jarmon, who was first-team All-SEC two years ago and was bringing 31 starts of experience to the line for this, his senior season.

â†µYes, you’re seeing a lot of past tense in this story so far, and yes, that means bad things have happened.

â†µAt a press conference this morning, Jarmon and the Kentucky administrators announced that the senior tested positive for a banned supplement (our guess: Flinstones Chewables), and has been suspended for a year. Unless Kentucky somehow makes it to a bowl game that takes place in the middle of June (you laugh, but the GMAC bowl execs are brainstorming as we speak), that means Jarmon is gone daddy gone, and Kentucky’s that much worse off:
â†µâ†µâ‡¥â†µâ‡¥At Jarmon’s request, he discussed the situation at a news conferenceâ†µâ‡¥Saturday morning on the UK campus. He began taking the supplement inâ†µâ‡¥early February with a goal of becoming leaner, but did not have theâ†µâ‡¥supplement approved in advance by the UK strength and conditioningâ†µâ‡¥staff, which is the proper procedure. He later asked about theâ†µâ‡¥supplement, which he discontinued taking after being advised to do so.â†µâ‡¥
â†µâ‡¥â†µâ‡¥In a routine, random test by the NCAA on Feb. 24, Jarmon testedâ†µâ‡¥positive for a banned substance. The penalty for a positive test is theâ†µâ‡¥loss of one year of eligibility, in effect ending the collegiate careerâ†µâ‡¥of the Wildcat senior. His appeal for reinstatement was denied Thursdayâ†µâ‡¥night.â†µâ‡¥
