Playoff hockey is good for two things: The best overtimes in professional sports and purely hellacious hits. We’ve had plenty of the former already this year, and Niklas Kronwall would like to submit his entry for the latter:

↵That’s the Blackhawks’ Martin Havlat getting the bejeezus knocked out of him, and his brain is currently orbiting this planet Earth; you may have seen it streak through the night sky if you’re a stargazer.

↵Kronwall received a five minute major and game misconduct, which seems a touch harsh. Yes, he led with the elbow, and no, that shouldn’t be legal. But a game misconduct? It’s not like it was a sucker punch or Kronwall put razor wire on his stick before slashing Havlat in the throat. It’s good, hard hockey.

↵As for the game itself, Chicago brought the series back to 2-1 with a closely fought... I’m sorry? You don’t care about the game itself, you’re just watching the hit over and over? Fair enough.↵
