John Calipari Latest NCAA Coach to Fail at Twitter

Today’s a busy day for John Calipari’s Twitter feed. We’re barely into the afternoon, and he’s already talked about watching his daughter graduate from college, Jeremy Jarmon’s suspension, and a transfer release for one of his players. Wait, you weren’t supposed to know that.
↵
↵Calipari quickly deleted the first text, shown at the bottom of our screen capture, and replaced it with one that said, “Sorry, that wasn’t meant for you guys. More on that later.” That tweet, too, has since been deleted, meaning we will not get more on that later. Damn.
↵
↵As recent Tweetfails have gone, this pales in comparison to both Lane Kiffin’s, which earned him a secondary NCAA violation, and Ron Zook’s, which was just plain weird.
↵
↵There’s nothing illegal or particularly immoral about Calipari’s tweet, but there’s something fascinating about it all the same. It’s a glimpse into the modern art of coaching: a curious melange of technology, youthful speech habits, obsessive study of the game, and a 24-7-365 approach personnel management. No wonder they have to pay these guys millions of dollars; that doesn’t sound fun at all.↵
