Let’s Just Assume This Black Guy In The Stands Is This Black Player’s Dad And See What Happens

When it comes to identifying people on camera, it’s best to exercise a little bit of due diligence. Sure, everyone knows who Michael Jordan is, but nobody knows who John Mayberry Sr. is. Especially not the producers over at Fox Sports.

↵If you don’t know who John Mayberry Junior is either, that’s okay; he’s a rookie for the Phillies who was just called up from AAA Lehigh Valley yesterday.

↵In Mayberry’s first game with the pros, which the Yankees rallied to win, he collected his first hit, which just so happened to also be his first home run. Hooray!

↵And what’s even better, “apparently” his dad was in the stands, which must have been one of the proudest moments of Senior’s life. Why, in the video procured by The Cubs Brickyard, he’s even receiving lots of cell phone calls, all congratulating them on his son’s achievement. ↵Whoops a daisy. Yes, not only is that not Mayberry’s father, that’s not a Mayberry at all. Perhaps the Panama jersey he was sporting might have been a clue, as we’re kind of sure there’s not a big Mayberry clan down there. Just a hunch.
