Raiders Players Seem OK With Whatever Tom Cable Did To Another Coach

It’s no stretch to say the Raiders’ are the NFL’s most dysfunctional franchise at the moment. They’ve been that way for some time. So when the news came out about Tom Cable sucker-punching -- or at least doing something -- to assistant Randy Hanson, it wasn’t a surprise. Now, in a normal locker room, this would obviously be a disaster. For no apparent reason, it seems to have literally united the Raiders in chants, according to Nancy Gay:↵↵⇥“So, today at practice in Napa, players started to get word that this story had happened, that this supposed incident had taken place between the coaches. They got on the practice field for their stretching and chanted, ‘Cable, boma ye!’ Just like the Ali-Foreman chant in Zaire in 1974; that is the absolute truth. Translated to mean ‘Cable, kill ‘em,’ so I would say this is the kinda thing that rallied the Oakland Raiders behind Tom Cable, their head coach.”↵↵↵First, kudos to them for being knowledgeable boxing fans. Second, just what exactly is Randy Hanson’s deal to inspire this sort of hatred from players? Hanson, you’ll recall, was suspended five days by ex-Raiders coach Lane Kiffin. He didn’t exactly handle that situation with grace, either.↵

↵↵When you’re found to be too toxic for even a family as dysfunctional as the Raiders by two separate regimes, it might be time to find a new occupation.↵
