America Loves Brett Favre Jerseys, Even in Purple

In a not-so-shocking turn of events, quarterbacks on new teams are dominating NFL jersey sales. In a slightly more interesting twist, a jersey that’s only been available for a few weeks has shot up to No. 1 on the charts. That jersey belongs to new Vikings QB Brett Favre, according to Darren Rovell, who has the top 20 selling jerseys from NFLshop.com. Here’s a sampling:↵↵⇥1. Brett Favre, Vikings
↵⇥2. Jay Cutler, Bears
↵⇥3. Troy Polamalu, Steelers
↵⇥4. Michael Vick, Eagles
↵⇥5. Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers↵↵↵Here’s the thing part that should surprise you: Those are sales figures from April through August. Consider that those Favre and Vick jerseys have been on the market for less than one month. The meteoric rise of the Favre jersey is one thing, but how about a player who was going to be so allegedly reviled as Vick checking in at No. 4?↵
↵↵The only other surprise to me is that Ravens QB Joe Flacco has somehow cracked the top 20 in jersey sales, leaping ahead of Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers.↵
↵↵Play this thing out to the end of the season. Who do you see having the top spot by season’s end? I’ll stick with Favre, but I’d bet Vick continues to climb and maybe makes his way up to No. 2 unless Cutler really delivers on a big year.↵
