Muhammad Ali Makes a Sentimental Journey (Not to Mecca)

No word on whether this was prompted by Ted Kennedy’s recent passing, but according to the Associated Press, “Boxing legend Muhammad Ali made a sentimental journey Tuesday to discover his Irish roots.” Uh... Are we sure this isn’t part of a sketch for Conan O’Brien?

↵Jokes aside, the Irish need all the athleticism they can vicariously claim, so I’m proud to welcome an icon like Ali into a fold that otherwise boasts such luminaries as George Best, former NBA 10th-man Pat Burke, and some rugby players. Float like a butterfly, Champ, and enjoy that corned beef.
