Yahoo! Sports is running through all the NFL teams and listing them in their Juggernaut Index. Today’s entry features the Dallas Cowboys as the #9 juggernaut. A fitting placement considering the Cowboys offense will depend on #9, Tony Romo. For fantasy purposes, Tony Romo might be the only Cowboy who you can depend on - not that they don’t have weapons on that side of the ball, but they have decided to use an “Offense by Committee” approach to this season.
Cowboys to Use Dreaded ‘Offense by Committee’ Approach
At running back, bruiser Marion Barber is expected to split his carries with the fleet Felix Jones. Both backs should be productive but figuring out who will get the lion’s share of the TDs is near impossible. The wide receiver position is equally challenging with the absence of Terrell Owens, although Roy Williams is the nominal #1 WR he won’t be the primary target near as often as T.O. was in past years. Even super-stud TE Jason Witten should have some of his touches siphoned by emerging-talent Martellus Bennett.
There are some plays on the defensive side of the ball as outlined by Yahoo! Sports:
There's plenty of IDP juice in the Dallas linebacking corps. DeMarcus Ware(notes) is a monster with the sacks and forced fumbles, Bradie James(notes) is a safe source for tackles (plus eight sacks last year), and Keith Brooking(notes) was an interesting addition from Atlanta. … Terence Newman(notes) is the best cover guy in the secondary but that's typically not a place to look for stats – teams throw away from him. He's never had more than four picks in any season...
The Cowboys present some very good options for your fantasy team, but figuring who will be doing what from week to week is going to be the trick. You will have some very frustrating weeks - like when you play Barber, but Jones gets the TDs.
