USC WR Ronald Johnson Out 6-8 Weeks

Another week of practice, another USC starter injured in practice -- this time projected starter Ronald Johnson. The junior wideout suffered a broken clavicle during the team's final pre-season scrimmage before next weekend's opener against San Jose State. Johnson joins quarterback Aaron Corp and center Kristofer O'Dowd to become the third projected starter lost to injury during August practices.

Trojans head coach Pete Carroll said junior David Ausberry will replace Johnson in the starting line up, with Damian Williams moving across the field as the opposite receiver. After the weekend scrimmage Carroll expressed his disappointment in losing Johnson:

The hit of the weekend. Just a crusher.

Fear not, those of you who Fight On: the exuberant head coach wasn’t down for long. Writing to his Twitter account Monday morning, Carroll was back to offering heaping slices of happiness pie:

Game week!!!! Ready to rock and roll... We finally got to week 1!!

Not a moment too soon, if you’re a USC fan.
