University of Alabama head football coach Nick Saban signed a multi-year extension that will keep him at the helm of the program through 2017. Members of Nick Saban Head Coach Forever, also known as The Alabama Fan Base, groaned in disappointment. “Sign him for life!”
Untitled Update
With the contract still needing approval from the university’s board of trustees (a mere formality, considering Saban’s immense popularity), no details on any salary increase are as yet available. Not that Saban especially needs a raise. He made $3,750,000 last season, with incentives raising his final pay to over $4 million. Per the terms of his original contract, Saban was set to earn a cool $3.8 million this season, $4.1 million next year, $4.15 million in 2011, and $4.2 million in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
