The most glaring difference between this season’s versions of Steelers vs. Titans, aside from the location of the game, is the absence of defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, who went to the Redskins for a small fortune.
Titans Really Don’t Want to Talk About Haynesworth
So, how do the Titans feel about starting this season without a key member of their stout defensive line? Ask them about it again and they’ll show you how they feel. I dare you. Seriously, ask them again:
”I can’t do it any more. I can’t talk about it any more,’’ said defensive tackle Tony Brown, who played alongside Haynesworth the past three seasons. “I’m tired of hearing about it. No more Haynesworth questions. No more questions about how we’re going to do without him. That’s it. I’m dead serious.” [...]
“None of us want to talk about Albert any more,’” second-year pro Jason Jones said. “He has moved on. And so have we. I don’t think we have anything to prove. We’re going to be fine. And if we go out there and assert ourselves on the field, that will prove it for us.”
[Moving along quickly ...]
How will the Titans fill the void left by the aforementioned player who we won’t mention again? It’s defensive tackle by committee. Five men will rotate throughout the game. Brown and Jones will be supplemented with the rotation of Kevin Vickerson, rookie Sen’Derrick Marks and Javon Haye.
If they can help the D-line come any where close to being as stifling as they were last time around, it’ll be another long night for the Steelers, whose RB rushed for just 59 yards in the previous meeting.
