From Bust to Sleeper?

Troy Williamson has had his opportunities in the NFL and he has blown them. Since being the heir to Randy Moss when picked 7th in 2005, Williamson showed that he was no Randy Moss, and that instead he was a bust.

Then after being sent to the Jaguars, he talked about wanting to “meet at the 50 yard line and go at it” with his ex-coach Brad Childress. Doesn’t breed much confidence, does it?

But the Jags have needed to stretch their offense and Williamson is the kind of player that can do that. Vito Stellino of Jacksonville.com says:

Now that he might have a deep threat at wide receiver in Troy Williamson, offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter is ready to take the handcuffs off the Jaguars offense.

Williamson will line up opposite of Torry Holt against the Colts and will have some chances for long receptions. If he can hold onto them, he may be worth something this year in fantasy land. Don’t expect consistency, but he could blow up for some big games if the defenses have to focus too much on Maurice-Jones Drew and Torry Holt.
