Rays Lose 11th In A Row, Officially Eliminated From Playoff Contention

Extending what is now the longest losing streak by a major league team this season, the Rays were shutout 4-0 by the Red Sox. The loss officially eliminates the defending AL Champions from playoff eligibility.

With the history this franchise has, it's not a surprise to learn it's only the third-longest losing streak in franchise history. The Rays will need to lose four more games to match their record of fifteen.

Red Sox Jon Lester gave up only two hits in 8 innings of work and improved to 5-0 with a 2.26 ERA in his last 10 starts. The Sox completed a double-header sweep of the Rays which began with a 3-1 win earlier in the day.
