Soriano Confirms He’s Going Under The Knife

ESPNChicago.com had previously reported that Alfonso Soriano would have season-ending surgery on his left knee this Tuesday. Today, Soriano confirmed just that.

“[Team physician] Dr. Gryzlo told me the rehab will be about six weeks,” Soriano said. “Part of that rehab will be to strengthen my quad muscle so that I don’t favor that knee when I start to do baseball-related exercises and drills.”

Soriano was in the midst of his worst year in the major leagues (.241, 20 HRs, 55 RBIs). You never want to have to go under the knife, but, if there was ever a good time this was it.
