↵↵Listening to Payton, it sounds like Mike Bell is the Saints’ lead back now. Even if Pierre Thomas returns, Bell will be No. 1, Pierre 1A.
↵↵This shouldn’t come as a complete shock. Reggie Bush is more receiver than running back and who knows how long Pierre Thomas’ balky knee will limit him. Bell has played very well in his limited opportunities (granted in the preseason and against the Lions), and if he continues to get the majority of carries, he could emerge as a quality RB2. Pick him up or trade for him before people realize he’s potentially the main guy.
