Giants pitcher Brad Penny and Dodgers 3rd-base coach Larry Bowa set aside their perceived differences on Saturday, a day before Penny led the Giants to a 7-2 win over L.A.
Brad Penny Makes Nice With Larry Bowa, Then Beats His Dodgers
On Friday, Larry Bowa told the San Francisco Chronicle that he questions Penny’s work ethic when he was recovering from a shoulder injury while with the Dodgers in 2008. Penny then went on the offensive, questioning Bowa’s integrity in lobbing a claim out there like that just as the two teams were about to play a pivotal series. On Saturday, thanks to a Chronicle beat writer’s suggestion, the two met privately and cleared the air.
According to The Chronicle, Penny and Bowa separately thanked the paper’s beat writer for the idea.
“Man to man,” Penny told The Chronicle of the meeting. “The way it should have been.”
