Cox has done a lot for the Braves and their fans, but feelings are mixed with the coach potentially on his way out:
Fans React: Pros and Cons on A Cox-less Future
Bobby was never good at making out lineups, handling a bullpen, and other tactical aspects of baseball. I remember being frustrated at all the same things that annoy us this year back in the ‘90s. The difference was back then the Braves were a team with one of the top payrolls in baseball. Having great pitching AND great power hitting covers up a lot of managerial mistakes. That safety net doesn’t exist anymore.
You know how the game is not the same without Skip and Pete, it will be the same empty feeling when Bobby’s gone. You can say anything you want about his techniques, but there’s nothing like hearing him out there audibly rooting for his guys.
