Adrian Peterson Will Steal Your New Maserati

Adrian Peterson made a blaring statement to the league in last week’s win over the Browns that, in case there was any doubt, he’s perhaps the most dominant player at any position in the game: 180 yards rushing with three touchdowns. On his last touchdown run, a 64-yard blast through the defense tailor-made for highlight reels, Peterson didn’t so much hurl Browns corner Eric Wright off him so much as deposited him out of bounds, where Wright would be safe from folks like AP.↵

↵↵So Peterson is riding high right now. When you’re doing that, you’re free to mess with your teammates a little bit, and not just for minor stuff like dogging them during film sessions. No, you can go ahead and swipe their new expensive sports car, then call them to tell them to come fetch it from your house. That’s what Peterson did to receiver Sidney Rice, as Rice detailed on his blog today.↵

↵↵⇥Today we had meetings and the receivers and quarterbacks stayed for extra film, so everybody else got out before us. After I walked to the locker room and my phone rang.↵⇥↵⇥It was Adrian calling.↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥I answered and he was like, “Hey, I left my other phone by the cold tub, could you grab it for me?” I said yeah. Then he asked if I could bring it over to his house and I said yeah, and he was like, “I know you will.”↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥We always talk junk to each other so I thought he was just playing. I think he said that because he thought I had already been outside to look for my car, but I hadn’t yet.↵⇥

↵⇥↵⇥When I went into my locker I couldn’t find my key in the usual spot. I thought maybe I left it in the car this morning so I went out to the lot to find it. I parked right around the corner from the door, but when I walked out there, it was gone.↵⇥

↵↵↵Peterson left his own car keys in Rice’s locker, so he had a way to get to Peterson’s home to retrieve his car. Now Rice vows prankster revenge of his own, and we’ll be kind of interested in seeing what that will be. But mostly we want to know what a marginal player like Sidney Rice is doing owning a Maserati.↵
