Maybe Jacory Harris Will Take His Pimp Cup to the Heisman Ceremony After All

It was easy to sort of laugh at Jacory Harris when he talked about how he’d be going to the Heisman ceremony this year with a pimp cup among other things. Typical bluster from another player from “The U” who had never really accomplished anything, right? After all, there have been plenty of guys who have had all the swagger that came from the fat years at Miami, but they never really backed it up with their play. Really, it was arrogance more than anything. But after the first two games of the season, how many players have left a mental image for you like Harris?↵↵The notion of Harris making his way to the Heisman ceremony seemed laughable, not only because Harris had done little in his career, but the odds were stacked against him breaking through the Bradford-Tebow-McCoy trio. Why invite anyone else with a group like that? Maybe Eric Berry sneaks in? Perhaps Jevan Snead would one-up Tebow somehow and find his way there on the heels of last season’s hot finish. But look at the way this is laying out for Harris, who has already landed himself two Top 25 wins. Next week he gets to go into Blacksburg to take on the Hokies. After that, he’ll get a shot at what could be a Bradford-less Oklahoma. If, and it’s certainly a big if given the caliber of competition, he comes out of this games maintaining similar stats and an unblemished record, how does he not become a serious part of the Heisman conversation? A spot has opened up thanks to Bradford’s injury, and Harris is in prime position to step up and snag it.↵

↵↵Oh, and if you missed last night’s 33-17 win against Georgia Tech, here’s a single play that provides a pretty solid summary of the night.↵
